Balls 4 Grenada Campaign

One of the Foundations current initiative is “BALLS 4 GRENADA” the campaign, came about whilst delivering the pilot Grenada programme in June 2007, many of the Foundation coaches identified the need for footballs to be made available for children, young people and local community clubs to encourage participation By launching a campaign that enables access to footballs across the island, the Foundation will significantly impact on the participation level of football across the island and outside of the Foundation’s structured programme.

The Foundation aims to deliver 3,000 footballs to be distributed to:

  1. Young people
  2. Schools
  3. Community groups
  4. Key football deliverers

On Tuesday June 3rd 2008 the Jason Roberts Foundation launched the campaign at national stadium.

Students from the Grenada Boys Secondary School and St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School, along with other youth players were on hand; to witness the donation of the balls, while having a unique opportunity to interact with premiere league footballers Jason Roberts and Jason Brown. Also in attendance at the launch was Heather Rabbatts, a Trustee of the Foundation, a former Governor of the BBC, and the new executive Deputy Chair of the Millwall Football Club. Mr. Matt Ames Director of Harlequin Property a UK based property management and Foundation main sponsor Harlequin were present at the launch event.

The BALLS 4 GRENADA programme runs from June 3rd 2008 to June 5th 2009 and the Foundation aspires to deliver over 3000 balls and associated equipment (pumps and ball bags) during that period.
