Jason has today been awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Years Honours List for services to sport.

The Award has been given for his charitable work through his Jason Roberts Foundation which provides sporting opportunities to young people in the UK and his homeland of Grenada. The Foundation aims to provide structured sporting activities and aims to contribute to improving health and fitness, self-esteem, confidence and social inclusion.

When asked his reaction when hearing the news of his award Jason said "This is fantastic news - this award is for all the people that have worked so hard for the Foundation and that have made it a success. I'd like to thank all the staff who work for the Foundation and our Partners and Supporters. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, Harlequin Property and St. George's University for their continued support".

He went on to say "I set up the Foundation because I wanted to give something back and to be recognised for this is a real honour."

The Foundation was launched in 2007 and has since raised thousands of pounds which has provided sporting activities to children in the UK and all parishes on the island of Grenada, along with much needed equipment and sports clothes.

Jason is confident that the Foundation will continue to grow and develop, with hard work and determination into 2010 and beyond.
