The Jason Roberts Foundation delivered a programme of football coaching in Harlesden, North West London for the Brent Positive Activities for Young People programme. The Positive Activities for Young People programme (PAYP) is a targeted programme, which has provided diversionary activities since April 2003. The Foundation delivered a skills coaching programme for a 2-week period in the summer of 2007 targeting 50 young people between 9 – 12 years daily. The young people who participated in the programme were invited to take part in a Question and Answer session with Jason, which explored Jason’s career and the importance of healthy lifestyles. The Foundation offered the qualification free of charge for young people aged 16 – 19 years in North West London. In addition 2 of the Foundation’s Grenadian coaches attended and successfully passed the qualification. 99% of the participants in this first course successfully gained their FA Level 1 qualification. This certificate qualifies each participant to coach grass roots club teams for children and young people under the supervision of a qualified football coach. |
